Crafting with passion

                                   for four generations

THE VINE, A PRECIOUS HERITAGE

In Chadenac in Charente-Maritime in the heart of the Cognac, PGI Charentais & Pineau des Charentes appellations, Bastien and Thomas Quintard are two brothers with vines in their DNA.

Being the fourth generation on the family land, they created a brand in homage to the generations that preceded them and to this property where they grew up.

The wine estate is located in the heart of the vineyard 20 km from Cognac, 35 km from Saintes and 110 kms from La Rochelle.

“By taking over from a great grandfather who was a wine nurseryman and a grandfather and a father who were winegrowers, producing wine was an obvious choice for us.”

A UNIQUE TERROIR

The lands of this part of the Charentes region are clay-limestone and shallow (20 cm), for a very active friable limestone subsoil. This type of soil forces the vines to give the best of themselves.

Located 50 kilometers from the Atlantic coast, the estate benefits from a temperate oceanic climate. The region has plenty of sunshine and generally moderate rainfall.

COGNAC

Cognac is produced from white grapes. The wine is necessarily distilled twice in a Charentais still. The eau-de-vie obtained is kept in oak barrels for aging for a minimum of two years.

Since 1936, the vines on the estate have been mainly dedicated to Cognac. Until 2008, wine produced from the Ugni Blanc grape variety was sold to large trading houses. Since 2009 with the installation of a Charentais still on the estate, we have been distilling our wine production to sell eau-de-vie to trading houses. We keep part of the eaux-de-vie obtained to make our own Cognac.

Our cognacs are made from the Ugni Blanc and Colombard grape varieties. The wines are distilled on lees and aged in Limousin oak. The aging time of the different Cognac eaux-de-vie for our VS is 3 to 5 years, for our VSOP 7 to 12 years, and for our XO 20 to 30 years.

WINE

We produce white, rosé and red wines from different grape varieties: Colombard, Chenin, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. These numerous grape varieties allow us to diversify our offering and propose a wide aromatic palette. For this reason, and in order to better appreciate the characteristics of each grape variety, we have chosen to produce single-varietal wines.

Respect for the terroir and the environment is our priority to produce quality wines.

Our wines benefit from the PGI Charentais wine designation and therefore meet strict specifications which require production in a defined area (Charente and Charente-Maritime) according to specific quality criteria.

PINEAU DES CHARENTES

Like Cognac, Pineau des Charentes is an Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée (AOC). It is a liqueur wine obtained after blending Cognac eaux-de-vie and grape must. Once assembled, it ages in oak barrels. It can be white or red for color, young or old for age. Pineau is 17.5% vol.

Ours are made from Merlot for the reds, and Colombard for the whites.

They can be enjoyed fresh, as an aperitif, neat or in cocktails, or to accompany a dessert.

CEREALS

Finally, each year we grow rapeseed, soft wheat and durum wheat, as well as malting barley and corn. Cereals allow us to diversify our activity and increase biodiversity around the vineyard plots.

From 2025, we will use part of our cereal harvest to sow our own green manure crops. These plant covers are sown in our vineyard plots.
