OUR COMMITMENT
Respect for the terroir
and the environment
We have always been committed to respecting the land on which we work and live. To protect our environment and the well-being of our family and employees, we invest every year in new techniques and equipment that are ever more efficient and virtuous. Our commitment to the environment can be seen in the field, in our vineyards and on the farm, where everything is done to preserve the quality of our air and soil, as well as our natural resources such as water, biodiversity and so on.
Our estate is certified High Environmental Value (HVE) and has obtained Cognac Environmental Certification. This is a guarantee of our good environmental practices.
Biodiversity
We conserve and preserve hedges, ditches, ponds and trees around the vines, to protect and maintain biodiversity on our vineyard estate. The cereals we grow are also a source of biodiversity around our vineyards.
Confined equipment
To avoid drift, we use confined equipment all year round to limit the application of our products to the vines only.

Mechanical weeding
Every year, we reduce the amount of phytosanitary products we use. We favor mechanical weeding of the cavaillon, and only use a herbicide once a year. Our aim is to do away with this single pass in the years to come by investing in new equipment.
Moreover, in 10 years, we have reduced our use of herbicides by 75%.
Plant covers
Plant cover is sown between the rows of vines to structure the soil, prevent compaction and add organic matter. This also helps to protect soil life.
We sow the cover crops after the harvest in autumn. They develop over the winter and are shredded in spring, before the frosts, so as not to create humidity under the rows of vines.
Organic fertilizers
Our commitment to the environment also includes the use of natural fertilizers. Concentrated in animal organic matter, we use them throughout the vineyard to stimulate soil life and improve root development.
Sexual confusion
We have installed pheromone dispensers in our vine rows. This is a biocontrol solution for protecting vines against grape worms. This highly effective system means we don’t need to use insecticides for this type of attack.
How does it work? Those pheromones send out messages that disorientate the males. They won’t be able to mate, and it will reduce the population levels of these insects. That biotechnical method is known as sexual confusion.
OUR STORY
Since the beginning of the twentieth century, the Quintard family’s history has been marked by a boundless passion for vineyard work and the passing on of a legacy of winegrowing know-how from generation to generation.
